Special Care Dentistry - Training and Mediation

The GDC agreed in December 2005 to the principle of the establishment of a Specialist List in Special Care Dentistry (SCD). At a Council meeting in September 2008 this decision was ratified and a Specialist List in SCD opened on 1st October 2008.

The Joint Advisory Committee for SCD (which was the committee preceding the recently established Specialist Advisory Committee for SCD)  worked on what might be appropriate  mediation criteria for those clinicians aspiring to be on that specialist list, should the GDC follow the same process as it has in the past in establishing new specialist lists.

The Specialist Advisory Committee in SCD agreed that publication of this work might be helpful to prospective applicants in preparing their applications. This is only guidance as to what might be required by the GDC. No substantive advice is available at present.
